The VENTIGEL ™ frost protection tower is an innovative system for protecting crops against frost.
Based on the principle that dry plants can withstand freezing temperatures for longer, the primary aim of VENTIGEL™ is to provide a high level of air circulation to prevent moisture from settling on the plants and drying out the vegetation.
The second objective of VENTIGEL™ is, thanks to its 110 kW on-board heating system, to supply calories to the protected area. The heat generated is injected directly into the air stream, enabling it to be spread over the entire surface area treated, which is 2 to 3 ha, or a 360° radius of 80 to 100 m.
Born of the collaboration between Mr Pierre Perrinet, an engineer from the arts et métiers and Philippe Ferrier, a winegrower in the Médoc, made in France, VENTIGEL™ is a pragmatic solution, simple to use, effective, with no visual impact and very little noise pollution.

It offers the following advantages:
- EFFICIENT: Efficient for 2 to 3 hectares, mobile at will, easy to use.
- ELECTRIC: its high-flow helical ventilation, based on an electric motor, is easy to use and maintenance-free over time (compared to expensive, polluting and complicated combustion engines).
- INTEGRATED HEATING: its 110 kW oil-fired auxiliary heating system adds heat to the main airflow. Thanks to its flexible rotating sheath, 100% of this energy is used.
- ECONOMICAL: The investment is much lower than for existing systems, and no civil engineering work is required. Installation costs are minimal, and power consumption is justa few euros per hour.
- ECOLOGICAL: Electricity consumption is 12 kWh, and auxiliary heating consumes less than 11 L/h of fuel. Once stored, it has no visual impact.
- MOBILE: VENTIGEL™ is less than 1 m wide and can be placed between the rows of vines. It has its own 3-point hitch.
- PRACTICAL: Assembly requires just a forklift and less than 1/2 hour’s work. Compact, it can be stored on your property at the end of the frost period. VENTIGEL™ requires very little annual maintenance.
How do I power my VENTIGEL™ antifreeze tower?
You have 3 options:
- Mains power supply: You can run an extension cable of up to 150 m from your property, using 5G6 cable . Alternatively, you can install an individual meter from a mains power line running close to the areas to be protected.
- Owned or leased generator* .
- Generator on tractor power take-off** (PTO)
Due to the peak current of the electric motor :
* We recommend a recent 40 kVA or a 45 kVA.
** minimum recommendation of a recent 35 kVA.
On request, we can supply a soft-start box to reduce start-up jerk.
How do I install my VENTIGEL™ antifreeze tower?
Its dimensions (less than 1 m wide), weight and 3-point linkage mean you can position it anywhere in your fields to effectively treat frost-prone and/or strategic areas.
